VIMTV Episode #273: Cake – Showroom of Compassion

Jake: Recommended, 70/100

Tom: Recommended, 76/100

Overview: Showroom Of Compassion finds Cake continuing to write the fun, witty, slightly sarcastic songs that have defined their career for nearly two decades. There isn’t too much new here as far as the style or attitude goes, but the production is quite different. There’s a lot more reverb on this record, and the high end isn’t quite as present. The latter of these takes some of the shine out of this album, but the songwriting is still pretty strong. Good album, but certainly nothing amazing– this is Cake doing what they do best.
