VIMTV Episode #151: Cancer Bats – Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones

Jake: Recommended, 65/100

Tom: Recommended, 69/100

Overview: Wow, did this album really come out of left-field. On Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones, Cancer Bats present some of the thickest instrumentals and most intense vocals that the hardcore scene has to offer. This was a huge turnoff at first, but once you really begin to understand the songs and get behind the positive concepts of the lyrics, these guys are too talented to ignore. The downsides of this album come mainly in the fact that there isn’t much dynamics are really contrast of any kind, along with the last track being a cover (albeit a good cover). So for those who simply can’t get into someone screaming at you for fourteen tracks, don’t even try. But if you’re looking for very real and honest music that can kick your ass at the same time, this is it.
