Overview: Owen Pallett’s quirky magnum opus features dramatically elegant string and piano arrangements, most of which are played by Pallett himself and are topped by his whimsical, anemic croon. The strangest and most intriguing part about this album is the way Pallett juxtaposes very serious sounding instrumentals against lyrics of magic and other aspects of nerddom. While this may be a bit much for some listeners, it certainly wasn’t for us, especially when you consider the high quality of instrumentation and songwriting that this album has to offer.
