First Aid Kit

VIMTV Album Review #437: First Aid Kit – The Lion’s Roar

Jake: 80/100

Tom: 77/100

Verdict: A well-executed folk/pop album with an emphasis on great vocals.

Overview: On The Lion’s Roar, First Aid Kit nails a traditional folk songwriting sound– at least in the vocals department. The melodies and harmonies are perfectly done, and are able to be catchy while still carry a classic, genuine sentiment. Where this album is a bit lacking is in the instrumentals– not that they aren’t well done, but they don’t enhance the listen much. They support the vocals, and that’s about it. Still, this is quite a good album that will likely please fans of female folk artists.
