Frog Eyes
VIMTV Episode #158: Frog Eyes – Paul’s Tomb: A Triumph
Jake: Recommended, 74/100
Tom: Recommended, 72/100
Overview: To the average listener, Frog Eyes will be a difficult listen. However, the same aspects that make it relatively inaccessible (Carey Mercer’s fiery vocals and the disconnected, non-repetitive song structures) is what makes this album very endearing to music critics. This album shows a lot of innovative compositional ideas and tremendous lyrics, but it’s still lacking enough dynamics and variety to stop it from being as engaging a listen as it could have been.
