VIMTV Album Review #446: fun. – Some Nights
Jake: 45/100
Tom: 59/100
Verdict: Not recommended if you were looking forward to another album filled with great pop/rock instrumentals and a lot of depth.
Overview: Some Nights is full of great vocal melodies, and… that’s about it. You can tell that these songs were pretty well constructed, but the awful electronic sounds kills all attempts at a deep, authentic sound. Overall, this album is a disappointment from a band that appeared to be going in a great direction.

VIMTV Episode #14: fun. – Aim and Ignite
Jake: Recommended, 86/100
Tom: Recommended, 86/100
Overview: After Nate Ruess left The Format, he enlisted Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost in forming fun.. Their first release, “Aim and Ignite,” is operatic, dramatic, and even a bit flamboyant– exactly what the name of the project implies. With diverse song structures, amazing vocals, and varied instruments, this album has a feel-good allure that we think will keep listeners coming back.
Recommended Similar Artists: Queen, Panic At The Disco (their second album, that is), The Format, They Might Be Giants

- 9. The Gambler
Tom’s Track Picks:

- 10. Take Your Time (Coming Home)

I couldn’t agree more with you on Some Nights. A terrible overproduced masterpiece-wannabe failure by a band that was already cult in my discography with their marvelous album Aim & Ignite.
