Overview: Greg Gillis’ latest collection of mash-ups is intended to be a continuous, 70+ minute listening experience. While the sheer magnitude of samples and the smooth flow of the album is quite impressive, it’s more of a fun, background listener than a strong artistic statement. It’s still a lot of fun to listen to, but the songwriting element is basically removed since there’s no actual “original” material here. There is a general lack of dynamics here, and a bit too much of the rap-vocals-on-rock-instrumentals structure. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to hear some of their favorite songs joined in an unlikely matrimony.
