Overview: There Are Rules seems to be more about The Get Up Kids bending the rules than following them. The production, noisiness, and attitude towards the music sets this apart from the pop-punk core of the songwriting, making it something different and actually quite intriguing. Still, these songs aren’t always great, but they’re never really terrible. A good listen, and a welcome return from a band who hasn’t done anything in a long time.
