Overview: The Number of the Beast is a metal album to behold. Taking the prog instrumentals of bands like Rush, adding screeching, gritty vocals and dark lyrics, this album inspired much of the metal that came out in the 80s and beyond. While it isn’t quite as morose as bands like Metallica and Slayer, that may actually help to make this album the perfect album to start any music fan’s journey into the realms of metal.
