Kings Of Leon

VIMTV Episode #211: Kings Of Leon – Come Around Sundown

Jake: Recommended, 69/100

Tom: Recommended, 69/100

Overview: The fifth album for this southern garage-rock group finds them focusing on their southern sound rather than the rock edge that defined their first two or three albums. Things are a little tame here, so if you were looking for that rebellious attitude that littered their earlier work, you’ll probably be disappointed. However, this album is good to chill out to and quite pleasing to the ears, as long as you’re not wanting something too in depth.

VIMTV Episode #58: Kings Of Leon – Because Of The Times

Jake: Recommended, 90/100

Tom: Recommended, 92/100

-Special Guest: Jacob Prior-Miller

-Requested by and dedicated to: Alex Smith

Overview: Kings of Leon certainly mixed things up a bit for their third album, “Because Of The Times.” This album has much more variety than anything they’ve previously released, and they begin to use some of the arena rock tendencies that are much more prevalent on their next release, “Only By The Night,” just not to that extent. There are still some of the classic blues-garage rock tracks on here, but the Kings get much more sentimental than they ever have. Don’t worry– it’s in a good way.

VIMTV Episode #48: Kings Of Leon – Aha Shake Heartbreak

Jake: Recommended, 88/100

Tom: Highly Recommended, 99/100

Overview: This Southern family band certainly polished their sound and honed their songwriting between their first release, “Youth And Young Manhood.” As a sophomore album, the sound isn’t radically different, it’s just a bit more focused. It’s fun, it rocks, and there’s hardly a dull moment when you listen to this album. The guitars, bass, and vocals, are all incredible, but Jake feels that the drums lack a bit of the variety that could enhance the song. Although Tom agrees with this, it doesn’t really bother him as much. Let us know what you think!
