Overview: As VIMTV’s first world music review, this album is hard to put on the relative scale that has been shaped by various pop, indie, electronic, rap, rock, and metal albums. Assume Crash Position is a very ambitious and fresh take on traditional African tribal music, using call and response vocals, fat beats, and instruments that are predominantly made from junkyards. While this may not be everyone’s cup o’ tea, it’s definitely recommended here as a very effective palette expander, as well as a very enjoyable and fun album.
