Monsters of Folk

VIMTV Episode #65: Monsters of Folk – Monsters of Folk

Jake: Not Recommended, 70/100

Tom: Not Recommended, 69/100

  • Jake and Tom want to note that while they don’t necessarily recommend Monsters of Folk, they do strongly recommend checking out the solo work of the artists that make up Monsters of Folk: My Morning Jacket, M. Ward and Bright Eyes
  • Click here for VIMTV’s review of M. Ward – Hold Time

Overview: Monsters Of Folk is a supergroup comprised of Mike Mogis and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and M. Ward. The songs are well written (as you would expect), but it feels more like a mixtape than a collaborative effort at times, and isn’t quite as true folk as the name implies. Regardless, if you like these artists, it’s worth listening to, and if you haven’t listened to their other projects, you certainly should!
