VIMTV Episode #98: Mos Def – The Ecstatic
Jake: Not Recommended, 59/100
Tom: Recommended, 78/100
Overview: Mos Def’s Grammy nominated album “The Ecstatic” is quite a polarizing musical experience. Throughout the album, he experiments with rap’s genre lines, incorporating some elements of reggae and using odd samples and song structures to produce a hectic and disjointed feel. Jake very much disliked it and thought it was unfocused, cluttered, and annoying to listen to. Tom thought it was refreshingly original and intriguing to listen to. Let us know what you think!
