Overview: Nicole Atkins’ sophomore release is a well-made alternative country album. There is definitely a duality of tracks here, some of which adhere a bit too much to the trends of pop-country, while the others show a more adventurous and experimental nature. None of these songs are terrible, but the more experimental ones expose just how safe the other tracks really are. It’s a good listen, but not great. Definitely recommended for fans of modern country who are looking for something with a bit more depth.
