Pain Of Salvation
VIMTV Album Review #427: Pain Of Salvation – Road Salt Two
Jake: 80/100
Tom: 77/100
Verdict: Recommended if you like very dramatic prog-rock with good theming and lots of variety.
Overview: Road Salt Two continues the theatric prog-rock of Road Salt One, but does it with much more consistency than its predecessor. This is quite a two-way street for the group, however, because it makes this album a much more fluid album listen, but it also lacks a bit of the variety. Overall, though, they still excel in this department more than most of the rock bands out there, and in the end Road Salt Two is quite an accomplishment. It’s great to see a band willing to take risks and do whatever they want, and you can tell that’s exactly what Pain Of Salvation does here.

VIMTV Album Review #340: Pain Of Salvation – Road Salt One
Jake: 80/100
Tom: 80/100
Verdict: Recommended if you like very dramatic prog-rock with good theming and lots of variety.
Overview: Road Salt One is an intense and fun roller coaster ride of avant garde, progressive rock packed with great songwriting and instrumentation. This album is quirky and fun to listen to, yet maintains a serious and dark rock sound, almost that of a rock opera. Occasionally the record becomes a bit self-indulgent, but not even as much as other bands that go for a similar sound.
Jake’s Track Picks:
- 5. Tell Me You Don’t Know
- 7. Darkness Of Mine
- 8. Linoleum
- 10. Where It Hurts
Tom’s Track Picks:
- 1. No Way
- 3. Sisters
- 8. Linoleum
