VIMTV Album Review #401: Primus – Green Naugahyde

Jake: 72/100

Tom: 81/100

Verdict: Recommended for any Primus fan, or anyone who loves hard rock with an emphasis on bass and an eccentric twist.

Overview: As their first studio album in 12 years, Green Naugahyde is certainly no disappointment to the Primus discography. Presenting classic Claypool/LaLonde riffs in the vein of Frizzle Fry, with the dark, foreboding ambience of Pork Soda, this album should please the die-hard fans as well as impress any new listeners. Along with that, Green Naugahyde has probably the best flow of nearly any Primus record to date. Still, it is what it is, and you can tell that the trio weren’t out to shock and awe with this one. They set out to make a good, solid record, and that’s exactly what they did.
