Overview: For their second release, Psychostick adapts their comedy/metal sound to create a pseudo-concept album loosely based on food. The aptly named “Sandwich” brilliantly captures what it is to be a college age male in America, complete with working a fast food job, roommate problems, and caffeine addiction. But don’t let the theme fool you– these guys are serious about heavy riffs and a thick metal sound. However, in doing so they are able to poke fun at themselves and the genre they love to a point that’s not only endearing, but refreshing and appreciated. While this album certainly has a limit to its musical standing due to its comic aspects, it will put a smile on anyone’s face who has a good sense of humor and understanding of metal music.
