Sublime With Rome

VIMTV Album Review #385: Sublime With Rome – Yours Truly

Jake: 53/100

Tom: 57/100

Verdict: Recommended if you’re looking for a fun summer jam, but not really for much else.

Overview: Of course this isn’t a full reincarnation of Sublime as they were in the early and mid 90s– that’s not the point. The point is that, once again, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh get to play their old songs live for thousands of fans, and play some new stuff while they’re at it. Because, hey, why not? That disclaimer aside, this isn’t a very good set of songs. It has its highlights, and the instrumentals (especially the bass) are quite impressive, but the songwriting is lackluster. I’d still love to see these guys live, but this album isn’t going to be (nor is it probably meant to be) the centerpiece of this rebirth.

Jake’s Track Picks:
