Overview: For their 2009 release “Bone Island,” The Working Title takes a variety of pop and rock influences and make a grating Beatles-esque album that features a variety of moods and songwriting styles. At times it’s very smooth and pleasing, and at times it’s obnoxious, yet the obnoxious times feel oddly necessary. All in all, this album is hard to wrap your head around. There are so many things going on, and it jumps between attitudes so much that it’s difficult to pin a genre label on it, let alone an overall mood. This is a commendable trait, but also makes it a little less accessible. But when it comes down to it, these guys are great songwriters and have made a very well-planned album.
